Forthcoming Trip to the Bahamas

Posted by

We’re putting together a great fly fishing trip to the East End Lodge in Grand Bahama from Thursday, June 29, to Sunday, July 2. The East End Lodge is lovely and well-appointed, located at the very eastern end of grand Bahama, as the name suggests. It has excellent, very experienced guides, and it’s one of the best fishing lodges in the Bahamas. The east end of Grand Bahama, like Abaco, is well known for bigger bonefish and certainly for their abundance. There are also permit, tarpon and other species around. Grand Bahama is very accessible from Miami and Fort Lauderdale, as well as other major airports in the US, and our anglers will be picked up at the airport by a lodge representative upon arrival as well as returned upon departure. The accommodations are spacious and very comfortable. There is WIFI in the rooms and in the club house, drinks are included as part of the package, there is cable TV in the club house and most important of all, the food is terrific. No doubt you will find the trip to be most satisfactory in every respect. Act quickly, the trip will likely sell out very fast.

The first day, you will relax and perhaps wade fish for a while and have dinner at the lodge. You will fish the next two days from a flats boat with a guide, and Sunday you will be returned by car to the airport for the flight home. Sunday morning you may be able to arrange for a half-day of fishing dependent upon the departure time of your flight back.

One added bonus, we are arranging for Justin Lewis, BTT’s Bahamas Representative, to join us one evening to give a presentation in front of our group. Justin has graciously accepted (subject to the timely and successful conclusion of a project in Abaco) and will talk to us about BTT’s important conservation activities in the Bahamas. More about that in the near future.

The cost of this package, three nights and two days of fishing, is $1,775 double occupancy. Space is limited, only six anglers, so please sign up early if you are interested. It ought to be a terrific trip. Call Luis at The Fly Shop of Miami to sign up or for more information.

May - Tarpon Season

It’s May, and more importantly, it’s tarpon season. The migration has definitely started, with great schools of fish mostly southbound on their way to Key West and the Marquesas. Lots of fish have been reported on the oceanside, but very much like last year and the year before that, it has been hard to feed [...]
